About KERI

Message from President

Welcome to the official website of the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI). Based in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, KERI is a government-funded research institute specializing in R&Ds on electrotechnology. Since our foundation as a state-authorized testing institution in 1976, we have made remarkable achievements over the years and emerged as one of the leading electrotechnology research institutes, with nearly 630 employees, branch institutes in Uiwang and Ansan, and three research centers (Seoul RSS Center, Miryang Nano Center and Yangsan Electrochemical Cell Research Center .

The history of KERI reflects the development of electrotechnology in Korea. We have successfully developed applied technologies such as the 765kV electric power facilities, control system for the power plant control rod actuator, Korean energy management system (K-EMS), engineering technology for high-speed train electrical system, digital X-ray imaging diagnostic equipment, magnetic levitation control system for maglev trains, and clean transport system for the semiconductor manufacturing process among others.

In addition, we have provided public benefits by contributing with our power supply policy and management and electromagnetic environmental technologies. Under the slogan, ‘First in Korea, Best in the World,’ we have emerged as a leader in research and development with original technologies such as the CNT/grapheme transparent electrode, cylindrical nano exposure equipment, world’s best-performing high-temperature superconducting wire and superconducting cable and more. These original technologies have been transferred to the manufacturers in the corresponding fields for further industrial development. Moreover, we have developed advanced technologies that are highly competitive on the global stage including the high-power testing, semiconductor-based pulsed power, high-temperature superconductive energy storage device, and nano-hybrid material technologies.

KERI is a state-authorized testing and certification institute specializing in electric power equipment and one of the world’s three internationally accredited institutes that has become a full member of the Short-circuit Testing Liaison (STL), which is known as the G10 of the heavy electric industry. We have been growing in prominence on the international stage and garnered trust from companies not only in Korea, but throughout the world. We are also in charge of calibration and validation of electricity meters, standardization of power equipment to the domestic and international standards, and management of the domestic standards for high-voltage, high-current measurements.

Park Kyong-yop , the President of KERI
